Cyber Awareness Day
Kingston University London is organising an excellent programme of presentations lined up for this year's Cyber Awareness Day, delivered by industry experts from organisations including KHIPU Networks, Palo Alto Networks and TrendMicro, Softcat and Mimecast. With this year's focus on AI, the sessions will explore how AI is changing the cyber threat landscape, from AI-generated phishing and deepfakes to the opportunities AI offers in defending against attacks. They're a fantastic chance to hear first-hand from people working at the forefront of the industry. The sessions are open to all students and staff, and no booking is required; simply come along. Whether you're studying cyber security, working with AI, or just want to stay safer online, there will be something valuable for everyone.
Cyber Security Enrichment Week
Cyber Enrichment Week gives University students hands-on experience across a range of cyber security fields. Partners from public and private organisations, along with individual practitioners, will deliver talks, practical sessions and workshops designed to build students' knowledge and skills. Our students choose and sign up for the activities that interest them, giving them the chance to explore different areas of cyber security and connect directly with people working in the field. Cyberscape 2026
This was the first and largest cyber security event held at Kingston University since the institution achieved Gold status in the Academic Centre of Excellence in Cyber Security Education (ACE-CSE). The discussion was broad and covered a range of topics, from AI security and the evolving threat landscape to the role of women in the cyber security industry. In the context of recent cyber attack incidents, for example, the compromise of freezer software by cyber attackers, which resulted in significant food wastage, cyber security is now more important than ever, particularly for food security, global warming and sustainable development. One of the main objectives of the Kingston ACE-CSE-Gold is to encourage emerging cyber leaders to collaborate with industry, the local community and researchers. Accordingly, we encouraged students and the Kingston Tech Society to lead the event, with support from cyber academics, professionals, and the ACE-CSE team. The event was well organised and achieved its objectives, and we will continue to hold such events in the future.
Integrity First AI Trust Cybersecurity
Speaker: Chiru Bhavansikar, Chief AI Officer@Arhasi, USA Artificial intelligence systems increasingly make decisions in cybersecurity, finance, hiring, and healthcare but most are deployed without adequate governance, auditability, or accountability.This 2-hour hands-on bootcamp introduces students to Integrity-First AI, a practical approach to securing and building trusted AI systems using cybersecurity principles.Students will learn how AI systems fail in real-world scenarios (bias, prompt injection, hallucinations, data leakage), and how to apply governance controls aligned with modern frameworks such as the NIST AI Risk Management Framework and emerging regulations like the EU AI Act.

By the end of the session, students will have: Broken a real AI system using attack techniques Identified governance and compliance gaps Implemented basic integrity controls (logging, filtering, traceability) Understood how AI systems can be made auditable and trustworthy This bootcamp introduces the future certification pathway in AI governance and integrity engineering. Cyber Innovation Showcase 2026: A Day of Insight, Inspiration, and Collaboration
The Cyber Innovation Showcase 2026, hosted at Sheffield Hallam University in collaboration with CSE-CONNECT, YCSC, BCS SY. This will be the fourth year running, attracting a diverse audience of professionals, academics, and students eager to learn about the latest developments in cybersecurity. Throughout the day, participants will enjoy a series of engaging keynote speeches and discussions on various topics, including cyber skills, navigating the job market, and addressing challenges related to diversity in the industry.
Helios Cyber City CTF
Step into Helios Cyber City CTF, hosted at Sheffield Hallam University, where things get real fast. This isn’t a lecture, and it’s definitely not something you can just sit through. It’s a live, interactive digital city where you can explore, learn, and apply your skills in a realistic environment. You’ll take on challenges across cybersecurity, coding, maths, and problem-solving in a competitive CTF format used by real tech teams. Expect time pressure, leaderboard climbs, and moments where you either figure it out or get left behind. This is your chance to test what you know, learn what you don’t, and prove what you can do. No theory, just real skills, real scenarios, and real outcomes. There are prizes, but more importantly, there’s the opportunity to stand out, build experience, and connect with people already in the industry.
Next Generation Cyber - Sheffield Hallam Festival of Computing 2026
Next Generation Cyber is an annual cyber security showcase held as part of the Festival of Computing 2026 at Sheffield Hallam University. Proudly sponsored by BCS South Yorkshire and delivered in partnership with the Yorkshire Cyber Security Cluster, the event celebrates innovation, collaboration, and emerging talent within the cyber security community. The Sheffield Siege CTF
This Jeopardy-style competition will challenge your skills across a variety of areas, including web security, reverse engineering, forensics, cryptography, and infrastructure, with tasks suitable for all levels. Whether you're an experienced competitor or completely new to CTFs, The Sheffield Siege is designed to be inclusive and beginner-friendly, with challenges suitable for all skill levels. Ravensbourne University: Navigating Your Career in an AI-Transformed Workplace
This workshop examines how artificial intelligence is affecting the modern workplace and what this means for career planning. A central element of the workshop is to participant in a national survey that explores student perspectives on AI tools, skills, literacy and workplace preparedness. Participants will conduct their own own investigation into how AI is affecting specific job roles. Using structured prompts and AI assistants such as Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini, attendees will analyse entry-level cyber security positions to understand how these roles are changing and which skills are likely to remain relevant. The workshop concludes with a collaborative exercise where participants contribute their findings to a central repository, that will be used as a foundation for a later publication in which all contributors will be acknowledged, and where the most notable contributions will be included as contributing author. By the end of the session, participants should be better placed to make informed decisions about their professional development ambitions and options.
