Tharmini Janarthanan

Tharmini is an experienced cybersecurity professional and academic with over six years of industry experience, specialising in ISO 27001 auditing, risk management, regulatory compliance, and information security within the financial sector. As a Certified ISO 27001 Lead Auditor, she has led initiatives in data protection, risk assessment, security awareness, policy development, and data leakage prevention strategies, while supporting executive-level governance and cyber resilience activities.

Her digital forensics expertise is rooted in extensive research experience, including numerous projects and peer-reviewed publications in international conferences, journals, and book chapters. Now a lecturer, she teaches information security management, standards-based security audits and assessments, and introduces students to digital forensics through her research-led teaching. She is a member of CIISec and BCS, and as Academic Lead for CyberWomen@SHU, she actively advocates for and supports women in cybersecurity and STEM.
